Community

The Vision

With our dedicated approach to quality brewing, and our proximity to farms, we commit ourselves to crafting outstanding beer that celebrates our region. We opened our doors in June 2018 with a vision of Single Hill as a hub and supporter of three different communities: our Coworkers, the people that make up Single Hill; our Home, the Yakima Community; and our Profession, our fellow brewers and the suppliers that support it.

Our Communities

Our Coworkers

Single Hill is nothing without the amazing team that makes it up. Our coworkers are responsible for the success we’ve had, and we aim to reinvest in our team, create good jobs, and collectively ensure Single Hill continues to be a great company.

Our Home

Yakima is our home. When we built out the brewery here, we dove in for the long haul by setting our standards high, rallying a lot of friends to help, and having a good time working hard. The Taproom serves as a gathering place for the Yakima Community—a place where all people can meet up, kick back, and enjoy themselves.

Our Profession

Every year during hop harvest, thousands of brewers visit Yakima to select hops for the coming year (and to have a beer with old friends and colleagues.) We find ourselves at the crossroads of these industries all year long, and we try our best to support both. Whether it’s production trials for experimental hops—such as in our Outcross series—or our participation in the Hop Quality Group or the Brewers Association Supply Chain subcommittee, we aim to contribute to the further growth and development of our profession.

Beer Grows Community

"Beer Grows Community” is both a phrase we use a lot around here, and a fundraising initiative that we steward, in partnership with local nonprofit organizations. Once a month, we host a nonprofit that supports our local community. We give them the opportunity to talk to our guests & set up an informational table and we donate 50% of our draft beer sales from that day directly to their cause. Additionally, we produce Beer Grows Community beers throughout the year. These BGC beers are collaborations with nonprofit organizations, and 10% of our sales of those beers, whether as pints in the taproom or kegs to distributors, are in turn donated to the nonprofit.

Recent partner organizations include NAMI Yakima, PNWU, Rod’s House, and La Casa Hogar.
